Tanked showers, anti-slip floors and Soft Spartia Perla walls in the staff changing rooms at Eric Wright Group’s head office in Bamber Bridge.
The project
We tiled the walls and floors in the staff changing rooms and shower areas at Eric Wright Group’s head office in Bamber Bridge. Rooms like these are wet, steamy and in use every day, so the work behind the tiles matters as much as the finish on them.
Most of the job was preparation. The shower areas were tanked before any tiling started, so they are fully waterproof whatever happens to the grout. The floors were then primed and levelled, and anti-fracture matting went down to stop any movement in the base from reaching the tiles.
The walls are Soft Spartia Perla 300 × 600, a soft stone-effect porcelain, run full height in the showers and half height through the changing area. The floors are EXT Core Grey 600 × 600 with an anti-slip finish, which matters on a floor people walk across barefoot and wet.
Black metal trims on every edge and external corner tie the tiling into the black shower screens, brassware and cubicle hardware, and colour-matched grey grouts keep the joints quiet on both walls and floors. Every tile and all the installation materials came from our own showroom, Homematas.
The brief
Changing rooms and showers for a busy head office: watertight behind the tiles, safe underfoot when wet, and finished to the same standard as the rest of the building.

Changing rooms that look sharp, stay safe underfoot when wet, and have the waterproofing done properly where nobody will ever see it. Another job for Eric Wright Group, who we also worked with at Leyland Cricket Club.
